AUTOCAD command - the CHSPACE command

The CHSPACE command in AutoCAD moves selected objects between Model Space and Paper Space (or Layouts), automatically scaling them to maintain their visual appearance in the new space.

1- Display a layout: Ensure you are in a layout tab to access the Paper Space and Model Space functionality.
2- Activate the correct space:
- To move an object from Model Space to Paper Space: Double-click inside a layout viewport to activate it, then double-click outside the viewport to return to Paper Space
- To move an object from Paper Space to Model Space: Type CHSPACE, select the objects you want to move, and press Enter.
3- Enter the command: In the command line, type CHSPACE and press Enter.
4- Select objects: Select the objects you want to move.
5- Complete the command: Press Enter to complete the command.

  1. At the command prompt, enter EXPORTLAYOUT.
  2. In the Export Layout to Model Space Drawing dialog box, enter a file name.
  3. Specify the location where you want to save the file.
Note: Objects that are outside the boundaries of “paper” in the layout are also exported.
