The BRUTE FORCE METHOD to "Flatten a drawing that has Z coordinates"

How to use:
-open new document in notepad,
-copy/paste following code
-save file, for example as: Flatten4.lsp
-SAVE THE DRAWING THAT IS CURRENTLY OPPENED !!!
-load lisp in to AutoCAD
-type command: Flatten4

1-- Copy/paste the code into Notepad. Save the file as spline2pline.lsp (in the support directory of AutoCad).
3--Open AutoCad, Menu: Tools->Load Application-> browse to spline2pline.lsp, click "Load", click "Close"
4--At the command line type: S2P
5--Have a nice day

...So the default flatten command isn't amazing and sometimes breaks the drawing. An alternative is to run a lisp command which doesn't affect values other than z.

Download the lisp file from the above. Then in cad type 'cuiload' load the lisp file you've downloaded.
Once loaded simply type 'superflatten' and select the objects in the drawing you wish to be flattened....
